Advice and Sail plan optimization

If you have any doubts about your sail configuration or if you feel like you’re lacking speed in a specific wind range, feel free to contact us for a consultation. While we may not have all the knowledge specific to every type of vessel, we are more than happy to share our extensive racing experience with fellow sailors.

It’s possible that your sails have reached their limit and as a result, your boat is becoming weather helm. It could also be a matter of better trimming, cleaning the hull for smoothness, or replacing halyards to generate more speed.

Determining the lifespan of sails is always challenging. What kind of sailor are you? Are you into racing or cruising? Do you sail only in light weather or in all conditions? The different types of sail fabrics also affect the longevity of the sails. Dacron sailcloth, for example, can remain intact for around 30 years but may lose its shape and require replacement after about 10 years. Generally, a mainsail tends to last longer than a headsail.
